Cordial greetings to you from Claretian Provincial House, Karukutty and wish you a blessed and fruitful advent season.
It is two years now we started our daily spiritual journey with “Forge in our Daily Life”. Hope you are all re-invigorated and enthusiastic to start the third stage Caritas Christi, of our spiritual journey. It is important to overcome the temptation to start this stage like “more of the same”. Every year has its novelty. The initial celebration, in the liturgical context of Advent, should stress the need to “start over” on December 2, 2012.
.Caritas Christi stage will coincide practically with the Year of Faith, which began on October 11, and will end on November 24, 2013, on the Solemnity of Christ the King. It is good to emphasize this coincidence; after all, faith in Jesus is the core of our Christian life.
Some communities, members come together and share their experiences of the forge especially at the time of monthly recollection and annual retreats. For Others, however, a major boost would be required.
In our missionary work it's easy to fall into the temptation to measure our work by the number of works we do. I think the most important thing is to realize the objectives we have. We want “to give special attention to our experience of God and to the mystical dimension of our missionary vocation” (MFL 54) and “to encourage those processes and means that help us to live each stage of our life as a moment of spiritual transformation” (MFL 55).
Our efforts are aimed at these goals. But let us not forget that fire is not an achievement but a gift to be asked with humility and perseverance.
Fraternally in Cordi Maria,
