Claret Nilayam, Bangalore was juridically erected as a house by the General Government on 12 September 2001. According to the decree, the purpose of the house is the pastoral care of the Syro-Malabar Christians in Bangalore, and the accommodation of other members of the Delegation doing special studies. Claret Nilayam had a humble origin at Mathikere in Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka state, when a temporary residence was inaugurated in rented house there on 11 June 2001 with Fr. Thomas Vattukulam as the Delegate Superior. This community of three fathers stayed there only for two months. The present house at Mahalakshmi Layout, in a residential area besides the Chord Road and opposite to the famous ISCON Temple, was blessed and inaugurated on 11 August 2001. Having lived in this rented house for almost two years, in September 2003 we bought this house and got it registered under St Thomas Delegation.Pastoral care of the Syro-Malabar Catholics in Bangalore is the specific apostolate of the house. St Sebastian’s Church at Mathikere, St. Alphonsa Church at Sultanpalaya and Mary Matha Church at Vijayanagar are the catholic communities under our care. The house also is involved in the special ministry of caring for the persons living with HIV/AIDS through CARE Home, our center at Hennur Road, Bangalore.

St Sebastian’s Church, Mathikere: Claretians got involved in the spiritual renewal and welfare of a community of St Thomas Christians present at Yeswanthapur and its surrounding in 1980s itself. This community was formed into a parish with 225 families in 1990 and a new church was constructed and blessed at our initiatives in 1992. Now it is an independent parish of the Syro-Malabar Rite under our care and has more than 450 registered families.
St. Alphonsa Church, Sultanpalaya: Responding to the request of the Syro Malabar Christians of Sultanpalaya and nearby places, the Claretian Community at Jalahalli Provincial House began liturgical services and pastoral animation in 1989. Officially this community was formed on the Christmas day of 1989. On 1 April 1993, Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, Bishop of Thamarassery diocese inaugurated and blessed the Church and it was erected as a parish on 16 August 2000 by His Grace Ignatius Pinto, Archbishop of Bangalore. Now there are 280 registered families under this parish.
Mary Matha Church, Vijayanagar: It is a small community of 80 Syrian catholic families in and around Vijayanagar in Bangalore city. A church was built for this community in 2001. Holy Mass is celebrated here on all Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on special days.
